Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
My office is located at 1861 N. Rock Rd Suite 103 Wichita, KS. As long as you are in Kansas, we can connect through tele-therapy.
What is online therapy?
Online therapy or telehealth is a counseling service using telecommunication technologies such as telephone, interactive videoconferencing, email, text, chat and internet.

What are the benefits of telehealth?
One of the biggest benefits of telehealth is convenience! You can have your session from the comfort of your own home or office. Which means there is no travel time involved-think of the gas you’ll save!

What are the risks?
Since you are in your own environment, there are some risks involved. For instance, I am unable to ensure complete privacy should someone come into the room where you are located. There is also the possibility of technical issues interrupting a session.

What do I need?
To participate in telehealth you will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet (with camera and mic/speakers) and a strong internet connection (10mbps). It is also helpful to have an environment that is private and free from distractions.

Do you accept my insurance?
I accept most insurances as well as private pay.
What are the benefits of self pay?
-
Privacy: When clients use insurance, therapists are required to provide a “mental illness diagnosis” to their insurance company. This diagnosis then becomes part of the client’s permanent medical record including any subsequent insurance policies for which you may apply, and can prevent you from being able to obtain them. Paying out of pocket means that therapists are not required to assign a diagnosis or share medical information with anyone. Insurance companies are known to raise rates simply because you received a diagnosis! I want to help you avoid that.
-
Cost savings: Once you tell a therapist’s office you are insured, they are contractually obligated to charge you the rate they agreed to with the insurance company.
-
Eliminates surprises from billing – you’ll know up front what you’re responsible for, and there are no guessing games regarding coverage, co-pays, deductibles. You’ll know from the beginning what to expect.
If you are located in Kansas, I can accept most major insurance plans including:
-
Medicare
-
Medicaid
-
Blue Cross & Blue Shield
-
United Health Care/Optum
-
Sunflower & United Kansas Medicaid plans
-
Tricare
-
Aetna
-
Cigna
To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:
-
What are my mental health benefits?
-
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
-
How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
-
How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
-
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
I will make every effort to help individuals utilize their insurance benefits. I encourage all patients to confirm with their policy that I am “in-network” for their insurance plan and if not, to check if their plan has “out-of-network” benefits.
A fee for service option is available if an individual has no insurance coverage or chooses to not use their insurance.
As a courtesy, I will submit claims for services on your behalf to your insurance company. Please remember that the patient is ultimately responsible for the cost of any services provided. Patients are responsible for knowing and verifying their insurance coverage and for any deductible/copay/co-insurance/no-show fee/late-cancel fees that are not covered by their insurance.
Any questions regarding fees or insurance can be discussed by contacting me below.
