About

About Me

I am a Gottman-trained Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kansas and North Carolina. I have over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and adults. I create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to work on achieving your goals. I would love the opportunity to work with you on finding the healthiest, happiest version of you! I have experience working with sexual problematic behaviors, revitalizing sexual activity and partner support. I also work with individuals with anxiety, depression and trauma. I work with issues of sexual identity/orientation and consensual non-monogamy. My practice is LGBTQ affirmative.

I am dedicated to helping individuals and couples explore and develop a safe and fulfilling sex life. I love assisting individuals as they process the difficulties in life and learn positive coping skills and healthy boundaries.

Specializing in Individual and Couples Therapy

Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are related, but often confused. Stress is tension associated with a specific event (e.g. a test or a job), while anxiety is a non-specific worry about the future. To find relief, people with anxiety or stress may turn to repetitive routines, preoccupations, or addictions and may even be depressed.

Depression

People who are depressed or experience mood swings often feel down for extended periods. They lose interest in activities that they once found pleasurable. Depression affects millions of Americans. Through counseling and treatment, I will help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals have lasting symptoms associated with painful and traumatic experiences such as anxiety, fear, and hopelessness. These symptoms can leave you stressed, depressed, and have negative consequences for your work and home life. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

Communication

Feeling understood and understanding one’s partner is what allows couples to deeply share one another’s lives. Often, couples come to counseling struggling with communication problems, which actually mask deeper relationship issues. I can help you examine communication patterns and how this too can lead to anxiety or depression as well as impacting our self-esteem.

Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution is an important part of any relationship and plays a vital role in allowing two people to enhance their communication and reconcile differing needs. Unfortunately, when conflict is handled poorly, it can cause depression and lead to distress in the relationship. I can help.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem is a feeling of personal worth. It is important to value yourself regardless of your current state of personal achievement, beauty, or intelligence. Your self-esteem creates the foundation for a full life, great relationships with authentic communication, and a feeling of well-being. Low self-esteem can lead to a depressed outlook and is important to examine in counseling.
